Bad Santa

Dani is such a social little girl. She loves EVERYONE! We often joke (even though it is not terribly funny) that a kidnapper wouldn't even need candy. Unless he was wearing a Santa suit. We have determined that Dani doesn't find the jolly fellow the least bit amusing.

Babbling

Dani is quite the talker. She loves to babble and is starting to say words. She says "more" (MO!), "ball" (a-baw), "bye-bye" (bah-bah), "hi" (excited waving accompanied by something like "haaaaaaaa!", "Elmo" (Em-o), and "baby" (bee-beee). It seems like she is understanding more and trying to communicate more each day. She is also starting to interact with toys more, rather than just put them in her mouth. She has been showing an interest in basketball. We've lowered the hoop and just today, I saw she figured out how to make a basket on her own, without having me lift her up.

She is also absolutely CRAZY! She and Jack have really been enjoying engaging with one another, chasing each other around and laughing. He thinks she is pretty funny and she thinks he is awesome. At night, while we are "winding down" before bed, Dani refuses to sit to drink her milk. Instead, she prefers to run back and forth across the family room floor, screaming and laughing and running. She's also a little pinball, bouncing off the floor, against tables, etc. It makes us laugh hysterically but also worry that she is going to really hurt herself. However, all of our attempts to calm her down are useless. She wrestles to get out of our arms just so she can start up again. She's our little Danisaur for sure.

Wake up call

I don't get to see the kids on Thursday nights, since I have class. I leave straight from work to go to class and don't get home until well after bedtime. Apparently, Jack had been asking Paul about me and telling him, "When I wake up, Mommy is going to be here."

When I got home, he had been asleep but started rustling around. Paul told me what Jack said and suggested I go up and tuck him back in. I opened the door and he looked up at me sleepy-eyed, smiled sweetly at me and said, "I woke up."
