Best Present EVER!

Remember when you were a kid and you were so excited for Christmas? How you were anxiously anticipating the toy that you had been hoping for all year? How you were so excited when you opened it up and played with it endlessly for the first week or two until the toy got less cool and you got bored and found something new? Having Jack is just like that. Except that he NEVER gets boring. Except that, as time goes on, he gets cooler and cooler. Except that he never ceases to amaze me. And except for the fact that I will NEVER sell him in a garage sale!

Jack makes me so happy, I can't even stand it. I love spending time with him and I am in awe of all that he is learning and doing, even at just under 4 months. He is such a happy little guy and ALWAYS smiles. And even though he has given me hundreds of smiles, each one thrills me as though it is the first time. He has two smiles: the crooked slow grin and the big gaping one. And I can't tell which I like better. And just when I thought that I couldn't love anything more than his smiles--he started to laugh. Now I just have to figure out how to upload videos to this blog! In the meantime, I am loving each little milestone and I simply can't wait for the end of the school year, so I can be at home with him full-time!

Auntie Brooke comes to visit!

Evie was really gentle with Jack and loved sharing. Jack was often hard to find under the pile of toys Evie put on him!
Jack's first slide and park experience.

Evie loves to go down the slide with you. She counts until you can slide down. Unfortunately, it is rather confusing as she only says the number two over and over again.

Buds and their babes--which kid belongs to which mom? It's a tough one!

New Pals

Yay! Brooke, Rob and Evie came to visit Jack (and Mom and Dad) for the first time over the Memorial Day weekend. It absolutely FLEW by and it was sooo much fun. On Saturday, Brooke and I hung out with the babies while Rob spent time with his best friend and Daddy had a much deserved boys' night out. On Sunday, we went to the park and Jack slept through the whole thing. That night it was Mommy's Night Out as Brooke and I grabbed dinner and a couple of drinks while the boys watched the munchkins. On Monday, we returned to the park and Jack was awake this time. He got to go down the slide for the first time with Mommy and didn't really care too much either way. He did, however, like the trees and watching the big kids play. I think he was pretty jealous of the big kids and wanted to run around. He gets a little frustrated with his limitations sometimes but, at the same time, loves to explore and move about however he can.

Mostly it was just great to see my friend! It's hard to believe that we have been friends for so long. One of the days, Brooke was making a sandwich for Evie and I was washing Jack's bottles. We just looked at each other and said, "Did you ever think we'd be doing this?" I really have loved each new chapter of my life and this is no exception. I love being a Mommy. I love spending time with my wonderful little boy. And I love sharing this whole Mommy experience with my best friend!

Sleep is for the Weak

Even though he wears the shirt, he's been sleeping through the night since the beginning of April. Don't hate me.
